Committee Description
The Security Council has primary responsibility, under the Charter,for the maintenance of international peace and security. It is so organized as to be able to function continuously, and a representative of each of its members must be present at all times at United Nations Headquarters. (View Security Council web site)
United Nations Charter
The United Nations Charter states the purpose, rules, and regulations of the United Nations. Within the beginning of 1945, fifty delegates met in San Francisco to discuss and develop the Charter. October 24, 1945 the Charter was ratified, which symbolized the commencement of the United Nations.
