The Commission on the Status of Women (hereafter referred to as "CSW" or "the Commission") is a functional commission of theUnited Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), dedicated exclusively to gender equality and advancement of women. 1. Future Organization and Methods of Work of the Commission on the Status of Women

This resolution, written on July 25th, 2006, lays out the future plans that the Commission on the Status of Women will carry out as an organ of the UN. It reaffirms the commissions commitment to the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, and publicly invites nations to include their specialists and ministries into the commission. The resolution also declares the process that the committee will carry out on topics that come up in committee. Also, the resolution designates 2007 through 2009 with special themes that relate to problems with women, like "the elimination of all forms of discrimination and violence against the girl child".
